Who is the most important person to you?

Most people would unvarying answer either themselves or their parents. However, Tolstoy had a philosophical answer for this, His answer was “The most important person is the one right in front of you.”      

The person who is with you at present is in fact, to you the most important person in the world. Just consider this. There are six billion people in the world and several million people in your country. Isn’t it a wonder that one person from the six billion or several million people in your country is talking to you? And what in the world has brought that particular person to stand in front of you? He/She must be indeed be very important and wonderful. Hence you should not hurt the person in front of you because he/she is the person of the present. And this encounter might be the last time in your life or on the innumerable rounds of rebirth that you and he/she will have the chance to meet. Some people can see each other for a brief moment and then part and never to see each other again. Therefore, you should consider fully what part of you is it that you want to be remembered. Would you rather have him/her feel hurt or happy all his/her life having met you?
